Steven Howard "Steve" Morton

Steven Howard “Steve” Morton, 66, of Jacksonville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 31, 2021, surrounded by his family. Steve was a devoted family man, a faithful friend and a steadfast servant of God. He was a member of Grants Creek Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher and Usher for many years. On Sunday mornings, he could be found in the church nursery sharing smiles and hugs with the children who loved him dearly. Steve had a servant's heart and a passion for helping others. This was evident by the sharing of his talents in the community through the Baptist Men’s Handyman Ministry. Steve was a lifelong resident of Onslow County where he worked and raised his family. After decades of service in the construction trades, he retired from Kellum Heating & Air Conditioning. His life was truly defined by gentility, humility, and integrity.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 48 years, Linda Davis Morton of Jacksonville; daughter, Stephanie Morton Hight and husband, Jim of Tennessee; son, Mike Morton and Melissa O’Donnell of Jacksonville; brother, Robert Morton and wife, Sheila of Jacksonville; sister, Hattie Pierce of Jacksonville and two treasured granddaughters, Ellie and Anna Hight both of Tennessee. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Lottie Morton; brothers, William Henry Morton and James Harold Morton and sisters, Dorothy Morton Jarman and Geraldine Morton Canady.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at Grants Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Maysville. Private Interment will follow the service at the Morton Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at Grants Creek Missionary Baptist Church, 1401 Old 30 Rd. Maysville, North Carolina 28555.
