Sherrick De-Niro Griggs

Sherrick De-Niro Griggs departed this life on May 16, 2022. He was born on September 9, 1988, at St. Joseph Hospital in Tacoma, Washington to Larry and Gail Griggs. He grew up and went to preschool in Steilacoom, Washington. Later he moved with family to El Toro Marine Corp Base in California and there attended El Toro School. They were later relocated to Cherry Point in 1997 and attended Craven County Schools. In 2007 he graduated from New Bern High School.
Growing up, Sherrick was the youngest of six boys and one sister. Sherrick had a smile, unlike any other and that same smile, can be seen through his daughter, Brayla, today. He had a love for the outdoors, and you would often find him outside, keeping up the yard work for several neighbors in the community. The neighborhood thought fondly of him.
Sherrick had an engineering mind, and he would try to fix anything you brought to him and somehow, he always seemed to figure out the problem. He had a passion for helping others.
One of the meals Sherrick enjoyed most was a well-done steak with A1 sauce and even as an adult, a Happy Meal from McDonalds with a Sprite. He had some wonderful friends, ones he had been friends with since middle and high school. The memories shared with him will forever be treasured.
Sherrick is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
He leaves to cherish his memory his parents, Larry Sr. and Gail Griggs of New Bern; daughter, Brayla; brothers, Kelvin (Tara) of Sacramento, CA, Tony (Deborah) of Seattle, Washington, Mark (Francesca) of Tacoma, Washington, Larry Jr. (Jennifer) of Banning, California, and Atrayou (Laura) of New Bern; sister, TuJuanda Sanders of Greenville; many nieces, nephews, loving aunts, uncles and cousins. The family would like to extend a special thank you to his Uncle Tony and Aunt Evelyn Key who never said no.
Graveside Service will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday May 28, 2022, at the Pinelawn Cemetery, 328 Cemetery Road Bethel, NC. Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Friday May 27, 2022, at Kahlert Funeral Chapel in Maysville.
