Sally Ann Ness Sadler

Sally Ann Ness Sadler of New Bern, North Carolina born in Kane, Pennsylvania, on November 16, 1942, passed away from a sudden illness on Monday, May 9, 2022, in Newport, North Carolina.
Miss Sally grew up in Port Allegany, Pennsylvania and was also a recent resident of Knoxville, Tennessee. She was loved by many and is remembered most for her infectious laugh and charm. Sally was an avid lover of dogs and cats and rescued many in her lifetime. She read hundreds of mystery novels in her early years and loved exercise and sudoku puzzles later in life.
Sally attended Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania where she received her Bachelor of Science in Education in 1977 and her Master of Education in 1984. She taught the Business Curriculum at North Hagerstown High School of Hagerstown, Maryland for over 20 years until retirement.
She was a member of the Port Allegany Moose Lodge, the American Legion Auxiliary and was a Lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 2514 of New Bern.
Sally was preceded in death by her mother, Bessie Blanche Flanagan who worked at the Cameo Doll Factory; father, Jack Brittain Ness who was killed while serving in the Army Air Corps during WWII; her infant sister Kathleen Marie Painter; brother James Painter; the love of her life her husband, Charles Sadler. Her family knows that he has been waiting for her and now they are both happy and at peace together. And planning their next adventure in the RV!
She is survived by her daughter, Jackie O’Brien and husband William of New Bern, North Carolina; daughter, Robin Smith and husband Douglas of Knoxville, Tennessee; step-son Christopher Sadler and wife Brenna of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; step-son John Sadler of Alexandria Virginia; step-son David Sadler of Costa Mesa, California; brother, John Painter and wife Rosemarie of Granbury, Texas; brother Tom Finley of Hershey, Pennsylvania; sister, Patricia Nicol and husband Louis of Olean, New York; sister, Bonita Young of Buffalo, New York; grandchildren, Kelly, Corinne, Genavieve, Gabrielle, William and wife Christine, their two children and many loving brothers- and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be scheduled. Family and friends will be made aware of the details.
The family appreciates the professional services and compassion from her living facility of Truewood by Merrill in New Bern, Vidant Health Neurological Unit and Palliative Care in Greenville and Crystal Coast Hospice House and 3HC in Newport.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her honor to any of the organizations she belonged to or to your favorite charity.
