Ross Daryl Surbaugh Jr.

Ross Daryl Surbaugh Jr., 68, of Lowland went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 23, 2021.

He proudly served his country in the United States Navy as Fire Control Chief and retired after 20 years of service. Ross was an avid outdoorsman and you would often find him enjoying God’s creation. He was a commercial fisherman and even loved to hunt. He never met a stranger and loved to make people laugh and smile. Although he will be greatly missed his legacy will live on through his greatest joy: his family, especially his grandchildren. His loving manner and giving heart will forever be remembered by those who knew him.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Joyce Surbaugh of the home; mother, Leanna Gooden; children, Christopher and his wife, Patti, Erin and her husband, Tim, and Tyson; brother, Marc Gooden; sisters, Sandra Reinhardt and husband, Alan, Penny Basinger, and Mikeal, and Polly Hancock and husband, Jim; grandchildren, Taylor, Zachary, Mack, Alliyah, Makenzie, Jackson, Lillianna, Cora, and Aurora.

He is preceded in death by his fathers, Ross Surbaugh Sr. and Paul Gooden.

A Celebration of Ross’s Life will be held at 11:30 am Saturday, May 22, 2021, at Lowland Church of Christ, Lowland, NC. To honor Ross’s memory, the family requests you wear your favorite casual clothing or red white, and blue-colored clothing.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests the donations be made in Ross’ memory to Hospice of Pamlico County, 602 Main St, Bayboro, NC 28515, Lowland Church of Christ, 5118 Lowland Rd, Lowland, NC 28552 or the CarolinaEast Foundation, www.carolinaeasthealth.com/foundation/.
