Ronald L. Carter, Sr.

Ronald Lee Carter, Sr., 73, of Hubert, was welcomed home in the loving arms of God on May 9, 2022.
Ronnie was a dedicated Christian man who loved the Lord, his family and Grants Creek Baptist Church where he was a faithful member. He sacrificed so much of his time serving God and others through the Baptist Men Handyman Ministry, serving as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. The rest of the week, you would find him visiting those who were sick or home-bound, showing support to those in need, calling to check on family and friends, and fervently praying. Ronnie was blessed with wisdom and love, and the gift of sharing both with those around him.
Ronnie was a lover of wildlife and an avid outdoorsman. Many mornings, he would be up before sunrise to catch a turkey coming off the roost or scouting out bear tracks before the season would start. He always looked forward to the annual hunting trip with the guys that would take place in the mid-west every fall. There he would hunt in remote areas, trying to shoot the biggest buck he could find. His love for hunting is evident by the trophy deer head and bear on display in his man-cave.
As a young teenager, Ronnie met the love of his life, Frances. The high school sweethearts' love and friendship turned into a 54-year marriage filled with many great memories. The two created a beautiful, strong family, raising two children, Ronnie Jr. and Angela. He treasured his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and embraced every moment with them. He especially loved his role as “Papa”. He instilled in his family the importance of integrity, work ethic, and a strong faith in God.
If Ronnie could speak to you today, he would want you to know that in the end, it’s not important the years you live in this life. What matters the most is that you put your faith and trust in the Lord as you live.
Ronnie leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Frances; son, Ronnie Carter Jr. and wife, Vicki of Hubert; daughter, Angela Allen and husband, Kirk of Jacksonville, FL; brother, Eddie Carter and wife, Becky of Hubert; sister, Bonnie Carter of Bear Creek; grandchildren, Tyee Carter and wife, Nancy of Hubert, Ashleigh Carter-Odum and husband, Donald of Hubert, Cameron Carter and wife, Jessica of Swansboro, Alexis Allen and fiancé, Christian Diakos of Jacksonville, FL, and Courtney Allen of Jacksonville, FL; great-grandchildren, Robert, Makayla, Chelsea, Carter, and Hazel; aunt, uncle, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
A Celebration of Ronnie’s Life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Grants Creek Baptist Church. Burial will follow the service at Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, May 13, 2022, at Grants Creek Baptist Church, 1401 Old 30 Road, Maysville, NC 28555.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made in Ronnie’s memory to Grants Creek Baptist Church (Brotherhood/ Handyman Ministry).
