Rebecca Benfield Scercy

Rebecca Benfield Scercy, 62, Kannapolis, NC.

"Becky", Mom, Grandmother, Aunt, and friend to many, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, October 4th, 2022, at the home of her daughter-in-law/ caregiver, Melanie Chandler's home. She moved there to enjoy coastal living. She loved her room and everything about living at the beach. Her last days were enjoyable as much as her health would allow. In her younger days, Becky loved to cook, ride around and look at Christmas Lights with her children, she loved listening to music and dancing, she loved light houses and watching horses racing on tv. She would get so excited about the race that she would yell at the TV. She loved the beach so much she had to have her room as a beach theme. Her favorite holiday was Halloween, and she would ride around to look at how people decorated their house. She had so much love in her heart that she made sure everyone had what they needed before herself. She will never be forgotten. She had so much love in her heart and anyone she met became her friend instantly. She was funny and enjoyed cracking jokes with family and friends and loved God and good food. Her spirit would warm your whole day. Even in the last days when she was stuck in the bed, she still had love in her heart and a smile on her face. We know she is walking with Jesus and singing with the angels right now looking down on us all telling us not to be sad. She is in a much better place than us, no more pain or sorrow. She will be truly missed and was loved by so many.

"She was quite a sister. I miss her terribly. She left a legacy for all who "really" knew her! Her spirit always "soared" above the problems and obstacles in her life. She was quite a "warrior" with an outlook that rivaled all others. Her story would fill a book!" - Ned

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; lean not onto your own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy paths.

All of the hospital staff knew her by name and called her "Mama." She was a really loving person, always put a smile on people's faces with her jokes and wonderful spirit. Her Faith in the Lord was very strong. With no doubt in her mind...she knew she was going to Heaven.

She was born to the late Margie Etta Benfield (mother) and Vardy Ray Benfield (father) and preceded in death by her husband, Timothy Ray Scercy, brother, Ted Benfield and sister-in-law, Tammy Scercy.
