Nathan C. Wiggins

Nathan C. Wiggins, 79, Archers Lodge, NC, passed away on January 23, 2023, after complications from esophagectomy surgery.
Nathan was born on May 2, 1943, to Lam and Myrtle (Cannon) Wiggins in Jones County, NC. After high school, he served in the U.S. Army Reserves and worked as an HVAC technician.
He was previously married to Linda (Buckingham) Wiggins and worked as a civil service HVAC Planner & Estimator at Camp Lejeune, which he retired from after 30 years of service.
Nathan was predeceased by his parents and brothers: Wilber, Donald, Pat, and Ivey.
He is survived by his children, Kristine (Wiggins) Goodfred and her husband Jeff of Kaufman, TX, and Nathan Wiggins Jr. and wife Carrie of Clayton, NC. He has five grandchildren: Jessica Scott, Lauren Platt, Tyler Goodfred, Brody Wiggins, and Tate Wiggins. He also has five great-grandchildren. Nathan is also survived by his siblings: Dorothy Banks, Bill Wiggins, Johnny Wiggins, Linda Edwards, Rodney Wiggins, and Jerry Wiggins, along with countless nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Nathan was a diehard Carolina Tarheel fan and a staunch conservative. Upon his death, UNC lost its greatest fan, and Fox News lost its biggest viewer. Nathan’s biggest joys and pride in his life were his grandchildren. He loved all sports, especially baseball, where his presence at the ball fields will be greatly missed. He was a friend to all he met and was loved by many.
Services will be held at Onslow Memorial Park, 3280 Richland Hwy, Jacksonville, NC, on January 28 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society.
