Marjorie “Margie” Jones Whaley King

Margie, 74, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2022, at ECU Health Medical Center.
She was born May 6, 1948, to Robert & Julie Jones.
Before her first stroke in 2012, she could get down on the dance floor with the best of them, if “Wipeout” came on you had just as well move on away cause that was her jam. Margie loved to play bingo, go pier fishing, watch her game shows, and listen to some old country music. In her most recent months, you’d find her spending a Saturday night playing poker with her sisters & family, smoking her cigarettes, drinking her Diet Coke, and eating her sweets. She made an amazingly delicious prune cake, and her homemade biscuits were the best!
She is survived by her children: Elmer Foy “Bud” Whaley III (Kim) of Seven Springs, Wendy Whaley Baugus (Brad) of Maysville, Jodie Michelle King (Lee) of Pink Hill, and Dan Eugene King (Jessica) of Pollocksville.
Grandchildren: BJ Whaley (Katelyn), Elmer Foy “Hunter” Whaley IV, Bradley Todd Baugus Jr (Katie), Kylie Dawn Murphy (Jonathan), Steve Austin Baugus, Timberly Lane Baugus (Tyler), Jay Eugene King (Ashley), Lynn River King, Brody Eugene King, and Luke Austin King.
Great Grandchildren: Julianna, Brayleigh, Jessa, Amber, Connor, & Baby Girl Baugus due in May.
Siblings: Kathy “Doodle” Jones, William “Boogie” Jones (Margaret), Mae Southard, Minnie Thompson, Jane Pate (Gary), and Clifton “Sammy” Jones. Also, very many nieces and nephews.

She loved her family. Her favorite people called her Grandma, ManMa, Mema, & Great Grandma and of course Mama. Always ready to laugh, joke, & carry on with anyone.
She was born in Jones County and lived there most of her life. She resided in Pink Hill at the time of her death.
The family would like to thank the Neuro ICU team at ECU Health Medical Center for the amazing care and communication during their treatment of their Mama. Everyone they met was simply amazing with her and themselves. Those nurses do not get enough praise for what they do, and it was truly appreciated!
Visitation will be Thursday, December 22, 2022, from 6 pm - 8 pm at Kahlert Funerals & Cremations, 308 Main Street Maysville, NC 28555. At other times the family will receive visits from family & friends at the home of Wendy and Brad Baugus.
