Loretta Simmons

Loretta Simmons was born on January 17, 1942, in Jacksonville, NC to the late Priscilla Simmons and Clifford Jones. She departed this life and peacefully entered into eternal rest on May 27, 2021 at her home in Maysville, NC.
Loretta Simmons, also known as “Ret”, attended Onslow County Schools. She later began working for the school system cleaning and caring for others. Her loving spirit and joyful laugh could light up any room. She also worked as a cleaning attendant on the Camp Lejeune Military Base serving and caring for others. She brought nothing buy joy, happiness, and a welcoming spirit to her family and anyone she met.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Brenda House (Ivey) of Maysville, NC; son, David Simmons (Vigia) of Bronx, NY; brother, Alden Simmons of Richmond, VA; two granddaughters, Tyrene Mattocks and Katrina Simmons; three great-granddaughters, Zaijayla, Zamiya and Zanala; three nephews, Ralph Harrison, Willie Harrison and Timothy Simmons; niece, Cecilia Murphy; three devoted friends, Thelma, Daisy and Lucille and her caregiver for over 10 years, Carrie Brown.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cordelia Simmons, son, Alton Simmons, brother, Ralph Simmons and grandson, Teronge Mattocks.
Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday June 5, 2021 at Kahlert Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow the service at White Oak Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday June 4, 2021 at the funeral home.
