Kuniko Tonie Firmin, 81, of Central Point, Oregon, formerly of Maysville, NC, passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2023.
Tonie lived in Maysville for about 40 years from 1981 - 2021.
During her time in Maysville, she volunteered at Maysville Fire and Rescue for 34 years. I know she felt the greatest pride to be part of the fire department, even though by the '90s she couldn't drive any of the trucks. She continued to be part of Maysville fire and rescue's training into her late 70s.
Tonie worked all factory jobs since moving to the States in the '60s. Her first job in Maysville was at the garment factory till it closed, then she went to work for MSA in Jacksonville, NC till she retired.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children-- Christean (Daughter) and John (Son); grandchildren-- Lucian and Erik; four other siblings in Japan, Yuriko, Nanako, Ubo, and Hachi.
A Celebration of Tonie's Life will be held at 11:00 am on April 1, 2023 at Kahlert Funeral Chapel in Maysville. Reception to follow the service at the Maysville Fire & EMS, 404 Main Street Maysville, NC 28555.
