Joseph Earl Purifoy, Jr. "Joey"

Joseph Earl Purifoy Jr. “Joey”,70, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Monday, February 28, 2022. He was a lifelong resident of the Truitt community. He was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, and “pop-pop” that only knew one way to live his life, and that was to work hard at everything he did. He was a Ford enthusiast who enjoyed Nascar racing, car shows, and especially Mustangs. He enjoyed a lifelong career as a truck driver and was an avid hunter where many came to know him as “Bullfrog”.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Earl Purifoy, Sr. He is survived by his mother, Janice Ipock Purifoy of New Bern; Wife of 46 years, Jane Purifoy; Sons, Christopher Purifoy of Wyoming, Kevin Purifoy (Amber) of New Bern and Jeffrey Purifoy of New Bern and beloved grandson, Jackson; Sisters, Betty Stanfield (Don) of New Bern and Donna Rouse of New Bern; and multiple nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service to honor his life will be held at a later date.
