John Grover Mallard

John Grover Mallard, 78, of New Bern, North Carolina went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 5, 2022. He was born on January 12, 1944, to the late Jack and Mary Lee Mallard.
John retired from Weyerhaeuser after 36 years in the Maintenance Department. He loved the game of golf and spent many hours on the golf course where life-long friends and memories were made. His other love was on the water in Harker’s Island fishing aboard his boat the Sunshine II with his beloved wife, family and friends.
John is survived by his loving wife, Patricia H. Mallard and his four-legged best friend Jake of the home; stepchildren that he loved as his own, Ginger H. Sawyer and husband Bill Jr., Cotton Hardison and wife Christie, Jay Hardison and Cathi Miller, Robbie Hardison and wife Kitti; grandchildren Michael Wayne Weir, Kaitlyn Shucher, Kelsey Shucher (Donnie Novak); Punky Sawyer (Faith Sawyer), Blake Hardison (Cody Cooke), Abigale Hardison, Lana Hardison (Noah Holton), Ryan Hardison, Hunter Hardison, Josh Anderson, Cailee Anderson; great-grandchild Kinsley Novak and many close friends that he considered family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mary Sue Black.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 10, 2022, at 11:00 am with a Celebration of Life service immediately following at 12:00pm at Clarks United Methodist Church.
