Jerry Lynn Schmidt

Jerry Lynn Schmidt, of Maysville, NC, passed away peacefully at home on October 9, 2021. Originally from Northwest Indiana, she was born on September 4th, 1938 at Chicago Lying-In Hospital to Justine Lorene and Charles Edward Dewell. She lived a quiet life and worked as a book-keeper and accountant for many years. Following the death of the love of her life, Harrold “Floyd” Schmidt, she relocated to North Carolina to be near family.
Mom made her family the center of her life and she was the center of ours. Her passing leaves a huge hole in our lives and in our hearts. She loved to travel. She and dad (Floyd) traveled throughout the country, as well as many other countries, often with family. She loved to be at sea and would tell you that she didn’t care where they went. They could sail around in circles and she’d be happy. She was an avid reader and well-known at her local library. She would bring home bags of books to read through the week, along with her beloved newspaper and several magazines, she would spend her days in quiet contentment in her favorite place – her recliner. Along with her family, she adored cats and her precious “Molly.” If you ever visited her, you would have no doubt of her love of all things cat. She spent her last years living among three generations of family and passed away in the midst of them.
She is survived by two daughters, Kathryn Evans of Maysville, NC and Beverly Liepe (Ernie) of Flintville, TN; two granddaughters, Sarah Evans-Hill (Travis) of Stella, NC, and Rebekah Lakin (Russell) of Maysville, NC; two great-grandchildren, Grace Lakin and Micah Lakin of Maysville, NC; brother, William Dewell (Sharon) of Indianapolis, IN and brother-in-law, Raymond Pilarski of North Vernon, Indiana.
A Celebration of Jerry’s Life will be held at 5:00 pm on Thursday October 14, 2021 at First Baptist Church Maysville.
