Herbert Leon Ragin

Herbert Leon Ragin was born on March 10, 1939, in Summerton, SC to the late Mary Jo Ragin and George Ragin. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; one brother, William Grove; two children, Lonnie R. Ruffin and Deborah Williams and one great-grandson, Christopher D. Williams.

Herbert received his education in the Summerton, SC School System. Herbert found the Lord at an early age and would always talk about his Heavenly Father. He loved the Lord.

In search of better opportunities, he moved to Brooklyn, NY, where he worked various jobs. Herb always wanted the best for his family so then he relocated to Pollocksville, NC in the mid-70s where he worked and provided for his family. He later became employed at Askew’s Hardware in New Bern, NC, and was a warehouse shipment supervisor until his retirement.

Herb loved the outdoors and helping others. “He will be missed.”

Herbert leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Rosa M. Ragin of New Bern, NC; two sons, Ricky (LaQuines) Ragin of Chester, VA, Renard Ragin of Pollocksville, NC; one sister, Vivian Allen of SC; one brother, Irving Grove of SC; 9 grandchildren, Latoya Spencer, Donmeoa (Meka) Faison, Tarisha Dillahunt, Raneshia (Nay Nay) Ragin, Malisha Ragin, Denyell Ragin, Jalonni Ruffin, Reniqua Ragin and Renarie Ragin; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Jannie (Gerald) Mason of NY, Fennell Williams of NY; one aunt, Daisy S. Ragin and a host of many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at Kahlert Funeral Chapel in Maysville. Interment will follow the service at White Oak Cemetery in Maysville. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Kahlert Funerals & Cremations in Maysville.
