Glenda Marie Morris




Glenda Marie Morris, affectionately known as “Dicey”, daughter of the late Edward Hill Morris and Christine Dudley Morris, was born on February 13, 1952 and departed this life on Thursday, August 18, 2022. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmie A. Dudley, and Shelton Sharpe.


At an early age, Glenda joined Myrtle Grove Christian Church. After graduating from Jones Senior High School in 1970, she moved to Washington, DC and was employed by the U.S. Postal Service. In 1982, Glenda returned to Maysville and built a beautiful life while working at the Naval Hospital Cherry Point, NC until she retired in 2007.


Upon her return, Glenda renewed her membership with Myrtle Grove Christian Church. She was an active member of Myrtle Grove, serving as President of the Missionary Ministry, Church Secretary, Assistant Sunday School Teacher, and choir member. In addition, she was the Secretary of the Burial Society. Glenda was also active in the District Union as the Women’s Coordinator of New Bern District Fellowship Union, and District Union #3 Treasurer. Glenda also volunteered at the Maysville Salvation Army.


“Dicey” was warm, kind-hearted, always had a big smile and loved to laugh. She was a wonderful mother and was always there for her children. Her faith in God was tremendously strong and she never wavered during trying times. She had many friends and was a well-loved member of the community.


Glenda leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, LaTrise Chauntel Morris of Maysville, NC, Sherri Deneene Morris of Greensboro, NC; brother Jeffrey (Brenda) Morris of Maysville, NC; nephews, Malcolm, Warren, and Akemmye; nieces, Roslynn and Jacquelyn; three special great-nephews, Nyeim, Malcolm Jr., and Elijah Jimmie; two special great-nieces, Kayla and Brianna; honorary niece, Tanisha Brooks; special friends Yvonne Williams and Marian Peterson, and a host of cousins and friends.


Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday August 24, 2022 at Myrtle Grove Christian Church, 5812 Hwy 58 S, Maysville, NC 28555. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon, at the church. Interment will follow the service at the White Oak Cemetery,
