Desmond Lamont Chapman Sr.





Desmond Lamont Chapman Sr., age 48, transitioned from this earthly life to his heavenly home on Sunday, September 12, 2021. He was born on February 27, 1973 at the University of Maryland Hospital to Sherry Ann Everette Chapman and Elijah Mason.

Desmond received his education through Baltimore City Public Schools System and later picked up a trade in Culinary Arts from Woodland Job Corps in Laurel, Maryland. He worked at many different restaurants as a chef also worked in Construction with his brothers. He enjoyed cooking for his family and friends and always made you laugh with his many stories and jokes. He was well known for his patch of hair and infectious smiles. Desmond had a great love for music and working on electronics with a special radio from his mother he had for Christmas. His caring attitude won him many friends wherever he went. His cheerful personality will be missed among family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Marquise Chapman Ellerbee; grandmothers, Hattie Chapman and Ida Fonville; grandparents, Martha and Elijah Mason and Evelyn and Rayford Burney and grandfather, James Everette.

He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Sherry Ann Everette Chapman; father, Elijah Mason; sisters, Crystal Ann White, Sherree Evans and Ebony Thomas all of Jacksonville, NC and Tara Thompson and Rhonda Mason both of Baltimore, MD; brother, Micheal Mason of Baltimore, MD; sons, Desmond L. Chapman (Shikeylou), Triq Cargill Ellis, Isaiah Elwon John Everett; daughter, Des’Zyria Iris Tayonna Chapman; special nieces and nephews, Shamira and Shamoree Evand; granddaughter, Dawson (Doll Doll) Chapman and Keilani Crawford; grandfather, John Earl Chapman; aunts, Ella Mae Pompep (Pompey), Hilda L. James (Oliver), Sherriell Stanley (Rodney), Dena Kinsey (Kevin), Marvin Everette Bryant and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, cousins and friends.

Desmond had special brothers and friends, Rodney Shiver, Teron Mack, Shaun Mack and Haywood White.

Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, September 24, 2021, at Kahlert Funeral Chapel in Maysville. Burial will follow the service at White Oak Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at Kahlert Funerals from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
