David Ewell Banks Jr.

David Ewell Banks Jr., 68, of New Bern, NC, passed away on December 23rd, 2022 at his home.

David was born in December of 1954 to David Ewell Banks and Sue Paul Cox in New Bern, NC. He was the oldest of eight children and loved his siblings, as evident in his commitment to family throughout his life. David worked as a painting contractor for decades in the New Bern area and made many friends through his business, many of whom will remember his late beloved dogs, Mollie and Foster, who often accompanied him to work. An outdoorsman at heart, David was most content outside with his buddies, whether fishing for speckled trout on the river, hunting wild turkeys in the NC mountains, or hunting big game around the country.

David is survived by his sisters, Sheryl Finch (Don) and Beth Townsend (Billy) of New Bern, NC, and brothers, Steven Cox of Alexandria, VA, and Christopher Cox (Sarah) of Panama City Beach, FL, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father, David E. Banks, mother Sue Paul Cox, brothers, John W. Banks, James R. (Whitney) Banks, and Bryan Paul Banks, all of New Bern.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Lakeside Chapel at Greenleaf Memorial Park on January 28, 2023, at 11:00 am.
