David Carlton Wood

David Carlton Wood, 49, of Bridgeton, went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 7, 2021. David grew up in Bridgeton, NC, with his mother, father, grandparents, aunt, and uncle. He was a mama's boy who loved and respected her until the day she went home to be with the Lord. He became a dad at the very young age of 23 when he met his wife, Crystal. Together they started a family and made many unforgettable memories. Crystal was the love of his life for 28 years, they were true soulmates. His children were his world and he loved them more than anything. David was always a giver, not a taker and he would help anyone in need. He always had a beautiful smile that could brighten any room. At a young age, he learned to be very skilled in many job criteria. David was always a hard worker, from the young age of 14 until the day that he went home to be with the Lord! He had a strong work ethic and never liked to sit around doing nothing. He really enjoyed his job of being a heavy equipment operator (CAT Excavator). The best part was working aside his daughter, Angel. The bond they shared can never be broken. He loved spending time with his boys, David Allen and Allen Gray, teaching them all about mechanics, the value of being able to depend on themselves, and especially letting them know and teaching them that Chevy vehicles were the best. His Chevy Suburban was his baby. Most weekends you would find David doing what he enjoyed, grilling and laughing with his family. The simple things in life gave David the most pleasure: spending time with all of his family, his fur babies, and his grand-dogs. He is preceded in death by his mother Deborah (Debbie) Ann Wood of Bridgeton; father, Carl Feamon Wood Jr. of Bridgeton; grandfather, David Franklin Jones of Bridgeton; cousin, Jason Ray Wood of Bridgeton; great grandparents, Alvis Gray and Ethel Jones of Bridgeton. David leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 28 years and soul mate, Crystal Lockey Wood of Bridgeton; children, David Allen Wood of the home, Allen Gray Wood of the home, Angel Bryana Wood of Bridgeton; cousin, Dustin Ray Wetherington of Bridgeton; grandmother, Jean Jones of Bridgeton; aunt, Beatrice Lynn Jones of Bridgeton; uncle, Rodger Eugene (Peggy) Jones of Bridgeton; brother-in-law, Michael Warren and wife Jennifer; sister-in-law, Twila Roten; his lifetime best buddy, Matthew Travis Cater of Bridgeton and many cousins. He also leaves behind a lovable bunch of fur babies, Nook Nuk, Peaches, Wilma and Velma, and his grand-dogs Sophia, Willow Grace, Bubbs, Bear, Coco, and Beau. A Celebration of David’s Life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Kahlert Funeral Chapel in Maysville. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service, from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at the Wood Family Cemetery in Bridgeton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in David's memory to assist with final expenses.
