Shirley Wade Thompson

Shirley Wade Thompson, 82, of Cove City, went to be with her Lord and Savior as the sun was setting on Tuesday evening, June 5th, 2018. A native of Lenoir County, she came into this world, along with her twin brother Sherman, on April 16th, 1936 at the home of her parents, Henry Mark Wade and Fruzzie Mae Gilbert Wade. She spent a life serving others in her community and was a member of Cove City Christian Church and a volunteer member of the Cove City Rescue Squad for many years. She received her nursing degree from Lenoir Community College and retired from the Caswell Center in 1998.

Shirley is survived by her loving husband of sixty-four years, Virgil Thompson; two daughters, Jennifer Thompson Wisener and husband, John Wisener of Cove City, Donna Thompson Norton and husband, Rick Norton of Cove City; three granddaughters, Sabrina Wisener Holloman and husband, Russell Holloman, Ginger Johnson Anderson and husband, Erik Anderson, Alison Johnson Marchman and fiancé Joshua Silavent; four great-grandchildren, Emma, Lily and Wade Holloman, and Abigail Anderson; brother, Charles Wade and wife, Martha Wade of Kinston. Additionally, she leaves many other nieces and nephews to cherish her memory.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her four sisters, Hilda W. Lewis, Pattie Mae Wade, Marie, W. Clayborne and Barbara W. Taylor and six brothers, Sherman Wade, Henry Mark Wade Jr., Bobby Wade, Douglas Wade, Rufus Wade and Roy Lee Wade.

The Visitation will be held at Cove City Christian Church at 10:00 am on Friday, June 8th with the service following at 11:00 am. Burial will be held at the Cove City Cemetery following the service.
