Jane Ann Blackerby

Jane Ann Blackerby of New Bern, NC, was born on June 5, 1931 in Louisville, Kentucky. She went Home to her Lord on April 26, 2018. Jane Ann worked at the Courier Journal in Louisville, Kentucky after graduating from Centre College, Danville, Kentucky and married her high school sweetheart, Dr. James Nicholas Blackerby (Nick), a year later. They were married for 64 years. They have lived in New Bern since 1963. She is survived by her husband, Nick; her children, James N. Blackerby, Jr. and his wife, Cheryl, Robert Brittain Blackerby and his wife, Missy, and Nan Blackerby Clemmons and her husband, Gary; her sister - Dorothy Hill Faulkner and her husband, Richard; her grandchildren - Lauren and Nicole Blackerby, Katie Clemmons Beck and her husband, Josh, Blake Clemmons and his wife, Brittany, Hannah, Georgeanne, Jane, and Brittain Blackerby and her great-grandchildren - Charlotte, Beau, and Wyatt Beck. Jane Ann deeply treasured her family, her friends and the beauty and history of eastern North Carolina. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, New Bern. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, painting, architectural history and the arts, especially music. Memorial gifts, in lieu of flowers, may be given to First Presbyterian Church Foundation, Craven County Hospice, and Crystal Coast Hospice House in Newport, NC.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 5 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church.
