James Addie Meadows

James Addie Meadows, 67, of Maysville, departed this life on Monday February 12, 2018 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.
“Doe Man”, as he was known by his hunting buddies, was a lifelong resident of Maysville. He grew up in the Black Swamp Community where his hands worked endlessly to supply the needs for his family. There he spent his days tilling the land and nurturing new life into the crops that he grew. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish, hunt, and enjoy the majesty of God's creation through the simple act of bird watching. In the fall of the year, he would rise early to be in pursuit of the big buck. Whether it was from a tree stand or the seat of his combine at sunset, he was always on the lookout for the next big trophy. James’ handiwork could be seen in the multiple whirligigs that he made and displayed in his yard.
James was a member of Jacob’s Well Christian Fellowship in Maysville. He had an infectious smile, an unforgettable laugh and always gave the best bear hugs. He was a stranger to none and a friend to many. His generosity and loving kindness will forever be engrained in the hearts of those who knew him.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Louise Morton Meadows; daughter, Melissa Bradberry and husband, Daniel of Maysville; brothers, Ray Meadows, Joe Meadows and Robert Meadows all of Maysville; sisters, Kathlene Ketchum of Stella, Mary Ross of New Bern, Carolyn Mercer of Trenton, Deborah Ketchum of Richlands, Judy Meadows of Maysville and Ada Meadows of Raleigh; and 2 grandchildren, Damian Bradberry and Austin Bradberry.
A Funeral Service will be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday February 15, 2018 at Memorial Baptist Church in Maysville with Pastor Woody Whitt officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to assist with expenses.
