George William Brown

George William Brown, 83 of Maysville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday September 6, 2017.

George was born on July 30, 1934 in Orchard, West Virginia to the late Henry and Ada Mae Brown. He later met and married the love of his life, Grace Elizabeth Switzer. George was a man of honor and proudly served his country in the United States Army. With a passion for the outdoors, you would often find George at the beach, fishing, and even boating. He was active in the US Power Squadron and was honored to serve as Lieutenant Commander. George was a faithful member of Memorial Baptist Church. Although he will be greatly missed his legacy will live on through his greatest joy: his family. His gracious and loving manner will forever be engrained in the hearts of those who knew him.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Grace Brown; daughters, Teressa Allmon and husband Garry of Zebulon and Trina Wood and husband Woody of Smithfield; brothers, Bobby Brown and wife Emma of Peterstown, West Virginia and James Lacy Brown and wife Mary of Pearisburg, Virginia; sisters, Frances Smith and Betty Ballengee and husband Garland both of Roanoke, Virginia and Elsie Lilly and husband JR of Lindside, West Virginia; and two grandchildren, Joshua and Benny Allmon.

The family will receive friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Saturday September 9, 2017 at Memorial Baptist Church in Maysville. Funeral Service will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday September 10, 2017 at Memorial Baptist Church. Interment will follow at White Oak Memorial Gardens in Maysville.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in George's memory to the Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund or 3HC Hospice.
