William C. Ferrell

William C. "Billy" Ferrell, 82 of Maysville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 14, 2017 surrounded by his family.
He was born in Deep Run and at 6 years of age his parents moved him to Black Swamp where he made his temporary home. His Daddy and Mama engrained values into his life that would include hard work with the prize of many flowering blooms and the smell of cooking in which he was outstanding at. But most importantly, Mama taught him of his Savior’s Love and in the Fall of 1951 he was baptized in the White Oak River by Pastor Fushay. He always looked forward to reunions with family and friends whom he loved dearly. He owned and operated Bill's Upholstery Shop in New Bern for 61 years where he worked side by side with his sons, Jody and Roy. He will be best remembered for his knowledge and ability to handcraft and restore furniture and his sharp eye for doing things right. Daddy's storytelling ability and being direct to the point will not be forgotten and his last words will always be remembered, "Whence cometh my help, my help cometh from the Lord."
He is preceded in death by his father, Braz L. Ferrell (Papa) and mother, Betty Bell (Mama). He is survived by four sons, William Jeffery Ferrell, Jody C. Ferrell and wife Janie, Randy J. Ferrell and wife Trudy, and Jonathon D. Ferrell; three grandchildren, Christina, Joshua and Daniel; four great-grandchildren, Trinity, Eric, Braz, and Parker; one sister, Betty Jane Cannon; two brothers, Charles D. Ferrell and Leroy D. Ferrell. Billy adopted Roy as his son and Sadaf as a daughter, who tested his teaching and patience.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 19, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Maysville with CSM Randy Ferrell and Rev. John Jones Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service from 12 noon to 1:00 pm in the church fellowship hall. Interment will follow in the Pollocksville City Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Community Hospice Care of Swansboro (Aid Pam and Nurse Christopher Allison), Dr. Davis, Dr. Gorman, and especially Dr. Dumicz.
