John T. Bailey

MSgt (ret) John Thomas Bailey, 71, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday August 27, 2016 at his home.
John was born November 7, 1944 in Glenville, GA to the late Marjorie Ellington and Cecil Bailey and was raised in Dublin, GA. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1944 where he proudly served for 21 years with tours in Vietnam, Okinawa, and Guam. Several of his most enjoyable accomplishments were being a drill instructor, working with tanks and the acquaintances he made during his time in service. He enjoyed all aspects of being an avid outdoor sportsman, particularly hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents and spouse, Ruth Parker. He is survived by his first wife and current spouse, Jacqueline Kelly of Canton, NC; daughter, Renee Jones of Canton, NC; sons, Michael Bailey of Jacksonville, NC and Mark Bailey of Graham, NC; step son, Jack Parker of Greenville, NC; sister, Anne Lovett of Dublin, GA; brother, Bruce Bailey of Byron, GA; four grandchildren, one great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held at Memorial Baptist Church of Maysville, NC on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 from 6-7 pm. Funeral service will follow at 7 pm with Rev. Woody Whitt officiating. The burial will be at Coastal Carolina State Veteran's Cemetery in Jacksonville, NC at 10:00 am on Thursday, September 1, 2016.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Youth Center Building Fund of Memorial Baptist Church 904 Main St. Maysville, NC 28555.
