Duane Lawrence Smith ("Smitty")

Duane Lawrence Smith (“Smitty”) (79), Swansboro, NC went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 9, 2016. He was born April 19, 1937 in Seneca Rocks, West Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Virginia Smith and son, Joseph Smith; and is survived by his brother, Danny Smith and sister, Judy Freed. He is also survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Linda L. Smith; two daughters Debra Stottlemyer Gentile and Brenda Smith; three step children, Melissa Wilson, Penny Whitworth and Paul Valentine; and six grandchildren and six great grandchildren; and his faithful companion “little” Buddy. Smitty was retired from Roadway Express in Cumberland, MD and in past years was a part-time police officer in Greencastle, PA. He was Chairman of the Board of Adjustments and a member of the Planning Board of Swansboro, NC. Smitty was also the Chairman of the Trustees of Midway United Methodist Church, Stella, NC.

There will be a Celebration of Life service at Midway United Methodist Church, Stella, on August 20, 2016 at 12 o’clock. In lieu of flowers, donations will be graciously accepted by the Midway United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
