Sterling Roscoe Stang


Sterling Roscoe Stang was born in Maysville, North Carolina on September 6, 1953. He entered into eternal rest on May 8, 2016 at CarolinaEast Medical Center in New Bern, North Carolina.

Roscoe was the thirteenth child of the late Julius Morris Stang and Gertrude Moore Stang. He was reared in a Christian home and attended St. Luke A.M.E. Zion Church. He joined New Hope Church of God In Christ in 1998 and was ordained a deacon.

Roscoe graduated from Jones Senior High School, Trenton, North Carolina in May 1972. In June 1990 he graduated from John Jay College in New York City for Security. He worked for several firms as a Security Guard. He later moved back to Maysville and worked in the restaurant industry as a Cook. Roscoe was a connoisseur of food and women.

Kisha Meadows Glover (Richmond) of Charlotte, North Carolina; two sons, Jamel Stang and Amar S. Solar both of Bronx, New York; a granddaughter, Nyla Solar of Bronx, New York; one brother, Steve Stang of Brooklyn, New York; four sisters, Christine (Clen) Mattocks of Maysville, North Carolina, Dorothea (Percy) Mattocks and Helene (Ajamu) Lumumba both of Bronx, New York, and Gloria Dean (William) Hargett of New Bern, North Carolina; two sister-in-law's, Freley B. Stang of Maysville, North Carolina, and Vida Lee Stang of New Jersey; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and a devoted friend and neighbor, Kenneth McDaniel of New Bern, North Carolina.

A Celbration of Roscoe's Life will be held at 1 pm on Saturday May 14, 2016 at St. Luke A.M.E. Zion Church in Maysville. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Interment will follow at White Oak Cemetery in Maysville.
