Earl Victor Riggs

Earl Victor Riggs, 79, of Maysville, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday September 29, 2015.
He served as a Pastor and Sunday School teacher for many years, worked in road construction throughout Eastern North Carolina, was a carpenter, and loved tending his garden. He sang everywhere he went. His greatest joys were sharing God’s love and saving grace with others and caring for his family. He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Maysville and was saddened when he had to limit his work in the homebound ministry due to health problems. He could be a stubborn firecracker but was mostly kind and loving. He will be missed and remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many.
Earl leaves to cherish his memories, four daughters, Polly Moore and husband Greg of New Bern, NC, Mae Whaley and husband Butch of Pollocksville, NC, Trenney Eason and husband Kenny of Hampstead, NC, Sandra Whited of New Port Richey, FL; two sons, Calvin Riggs and wife Rena of Pollocksville, NC and Earl Riggs and wife Christina of Pollocksville, NC; five step-sons; two step-daughters; one sister, Inez Waters and husband George of New Bern, NC; two nephews; three nieces; eighteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
He has joined his wife Sylvia in the arms of Jesus.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday October 3, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Maysville with Dr. John Lewis officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Interment will follow at the Riggs Family Cemtery in Maysville.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Earl’s memory to the church.

For Victor And Sylvia Goodbye sweet friends! I’ll miss you! You’re in a better place. But a part of me will hurt forever, Because I can’t see your face. I will forever cherish The special times we shared! I will hold deep within my heart All the ways you showed you cared. My heart is hurting, With the pain of this goodbye. Just thinking of all the memories, Makes me want to cry. I will carry with me always The wise words that you have said. I will laugh when I remember The funny things we did. I miss you so much already! You will never really know, How very much I love you And don’t want to let you go. I can’t imagine The joy that you are feeling now. Knowing Jesus is holding you Helps my heart somehow. I’m glad you’re no longer hurting, and your hearts have been set free! Enjoy your home in heaven. Hug Christ’s neck for me! Save a place for me I’ll miss you until then. I can’t wait until the day I see you smiling once again!
