He is predeceased by his parents Bill and Yvonne Shambley.
He is survived by two sisters, Jane Shambley Whitford (Richard) of Bridgeton and Emily Shambley Denby (Rick) of Durham; one brother, George William Shambley (Wendy) of Mt. Airy, Maryland; special nieces Christy Duffy (Chris), Cathy Mross (Mike), and Hanna Mross; a very special nephew Brent Whitford (Felicia); great nephew Nehemiah Goins; also survived by cousins, Gloria Thomas, Melanie Bell, Diane West, Pat Eubanks, Amos Andrews, and John Andrews.
Larry left behind many people who's lives he touched with his smile and warmth during his 50 years at Caswell Center in Kinston and the friends he made in Bridgeton and New Bern in the past 7 years, including his best friend and mentor Jim Welch.
Memorial Celebration will be held at 10 am on Monday July 14, 2014 at Greenleaf Memorial Park Cemetery Lakeside Chapel.
Visitation will be at the home of sister Jane Whitford, 408 C Street Bridgeton.
